Rising energy prices mean that, despite changes in the regulations regarding the settlement of prosumers, it is definitely still profitable to invest in a photovoltaic micro-installation. The investment is additionally facilitated by further subsidies.
What are the benefits of having a photovoltaic?
- Production of our own energy – thanks to the photovoltaic installation, we are more independent of the energy company and energy prices. Energy produced and consumed immediately on site is free energy for us. The greater the self-consumption, the greater the profitability and the faster the return on investment.
- Quiet and long operation – the modules do not emit noise, and the inverters are silent devices. A well-made installation will allow for long, trouble-free operation and will allow you to enjoy lower electricity bills.
- Ecology – electricity from a renewable energy source is ecological, and additionally when using electricity-powered heating devices – we get cleaner air in our area.
- The financial aspect – the photovoltaic installation increases the value of the property, and also allows for tax deductions, subsidies or preferential forms of financing.
How does energy billing work?
From April 1, 2022, all new connected installations will be included in the new billing system for the energy produced, called net-billing. Instead of accounting quantitatively as before, the energy company bills us in terms of value for the energy that we introduce from the grid. It works on the principle that the energy supplied to the grid is sold at the average TGE wholesale price from the previous month, and the generated amount is recorded on our prosumer deposit. When collecting energy, the funds accumulated on this deposit are used first to pay the amount due. However, this applies to the energy itself, we pay the same distribution fees as people who do not have micro-installations. Settlements with the energy seller are made according to the selected tariff, including the prosumer deposit. From July 2024, prosumer settlements will be made at the average hourly price (instead of the current average monthly price).
What are the installation costs
The cost of installing photovoltaics varies greatly from the selected parameters:
- Installation size,
- Component brand,
- Installation type (roof, ground),
- Type of installation (network, hybrid with energy storage),
- Complexity of the service (assembly, notification to the energy utility, financing of the installation),
- Discounts and subsidies.
The possibilities of taking advantage of reliefs and subsidies depend primarily on who we are (an individual, a farmer, a company) and when we plan to install the installation. For a individual person, it will most often be a thermo-modernization relief and the Mój Prąd subsidy, but the scope of support often changes and it is worth talking about their forms individually.
